Trim Levels Exterior
The Tundra is available in six trim levels. In order of starting MSRP, they are the SR ($29,140), SR5 ($30,950), Limited ($38,670), TRD Pro ($42,945), Platinum ($46,530), and 1794 Edition ($46,530). From the TRD Pro and up, the 5.7-liter V8 engine upgrade is standard. Apart from trim levels, other choices include the cab style. After the Regular is the Double, featuring two seat rows and two doors, while the massive CrewMax expands the rear seating and has four doors for easier access.

The Tundra's new look is rounded and high-seated, with some nice sculpting. The SR5 and 1794 editions have a revised front with a more pronounced grille, sporting bold horizontal bars.
Engine Power
There are two engines available among the 2016 Tundra trim levels, now that Toyota removed the former V6 standard of past models. The new standard is a 4.6-liter V8 with 310 horsepower and 327 lb-ft of torque, and the available 5.7-liter V8 gets 381 horsepower and 401 lb-ft of torque. Whether in 4x2 or 4x4 drive, the Tundra gets 16 miles per gallon with the 3.6-liter, and 15 mpg with the 5.7-liter.
Performance
Unless stretched to its payload or towing limit, the 2016 Tundra is responsive and quick to accelerate at low speeds, keeping at pace in city driving. The true test of a pickup is its towing capability, and the Tundra can tow up to 10,400 pounds when properly equipped, and a bare minimum of 6,400 pounds. As a welcome update, the 1794 trim level can now come with the TRD Off-Road package.
Interior
The Tundra is as wide as light-duty pickup trucks are allowed to be, and as a result no one will be hurting for leg room. The CrewMax will easily accommodate five adults, and the Double is perfect for families. The center dash and seats are big, but the Tundra keeps its cabin as refined as it is spacious. In particular, the interior has good sound-proofing to keep road noises from blocking out music or peaceful silence.

For entertainment, the Tundra has a 6.1-inch touchscreen infotainment display standard, along with Bluetooth, iPod, and USB connectivity. As a wise choice, Toyota added an optional work truck package that replaces the soft-touch seating with tougher vinyl materials and adds a heavy-duty floor and other surfaces that will last a long time.
Safety Features
The 2016 Tundra has an all-new trailer brake control system, standard. The IIHS gave the Tundra the max rating of "Good" in its crash evaluations. Standard features include electronic stability control, traction control, and a smart-stop brake overriding system that guarantees the Tundra will stop, even in situations where the brakes would lock up in other trucks.
