Trim Levels
For 2019, the Toyota C-HR is available in three trim levels: the new base LE, XLE, and the new range-topping Limited. The SUV has the same distinctive styling features as the 2018 version, including a high stance, bold front end, rising window line, and expressive swoops, lines, and accents. The only differences between the two model years are new 17-inch steel rims and the unavailability of the Blue Flame color option and white and black roof choices on the LE. The XLE and Limited get 18-inch wheels and auto-folding mirrors.
Engine
When it comes to the powertrain, the 2019 Toyota C-HR did not undergo any modification. This means it continues to use a 2.0 liter four-cylinder that produces 144 horsepower. This engine delivers power to the front wheels via a continuously variable transmission, which works like an automatic. With this combination, the SUV can go from zero to 60 mph in 11 seconds.
Performance
Ride quality is one of the highlights of the 2019 Toyota C-HR. It offers a comfortable and composed ride, going over bumps and road imperfections with ease. In addition, it tackles corners with confidence and shows minimal body lean thanks to its well-weighted steering that provides excellent feedback. With good throttle response, this SUV feels perky when moving around town. It also has good stopping power, needing only 174 feet to come to a complete stop from 70 mph. Overall, the C-HR is more fun to drive than most other subcompact SUVs.
Interior
The 2019 C-HR can accommodate five people. Its seats are comfortable and provide good legroom and headroom, especially in the front row. The SUV comes standard with six-way manually adjustable front seats, cloth upholstery, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and split-folding rear seats. Optional features include an eight-way manually adjustable driver's seat with lumbar support and heated seats. If you opt for the Limited, you will get brown or black leather seats and seat back pockets. The LE and XLE are fitted with Toyota's Entune 3.0 infotainment system, while the Limited features the Entune 3.0 Premium. Both systems support Apple CarPlay.
Safety Features
The 2019 Toyota C-HR also excels in the safety department, offering more standard active safety features than most of its rivals. It comes standard with a rearview camera and hill-start assistance as well as the Toyota Safety Sense suite that includes pedestrian detection, pre-collision alert, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. Blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic warning are available as options.
