Trim Levels
Toyota offers the Sequoia in four different trim levels. The SR5 starts things off with 18-inch wheels, a sunroof, LED headlights up front, and a power rear window around back. The TRD Sport model adds 20-inch TRD wheels and it comes with sport-tuned dampers. You'll also get unique TRD badging on this model and blacked-out taillights. The Limited model also has 20-inch wheels, and it comes with power-folding side mirrors with an auto-dimming function. Stepping up to the top-level Platinum will get you an adaptive air suspension system, along with all the features of the SR5 and the Limited. A power liftgate is an available option in the lower trims and comes standard in the higher-end models.
Engine
All the Sequoia models come with a 5.7-liter V-8 engine that generates 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque. It has a six-speed automatic suspension and rear-wheel drive, with four-wheel drive offered as an option.
Performance
The powerful V-8 in the Sequoia has plenty of power to move the large SUV. It quickly accelerates from a complete stop and feels powerful when merging on the highway. Even though this is a large vehicle, it maneuvers easily in parking lots and handles well whether you are driving straight down the highway or on a back road with lots of turns and bumps.
Interior
The standard configuration seats up to eight passengers, and if you choose the optional second-row captain's chairs, you can seat seven. All three rows have room for adults, and in the back, the cargo area has almost 19 cubic feet with all three rows in use. If you fold down the second- and third-row seats, it opens up the cargo area to almost 120 cubic feet. Some functional features in the Sequoia include retractable sunshades for the third row and a 60/40 split reclining third-row bench seat. The technology in the Sequoia includes Toyota's Entune infotainment system which works with a 6.1-inch touch-screen display. It also comes with satellite radio, Bluetooth, a USB port, and Siri Eyes free. Some available upgrades include a 14-speaker JBL stereo, a rear seat entertainment system with a Blu-ray player, and you can also add a navigation system.
Safety Features
The Sequoia, like other Toyotas, comes well-equipped with standard safety equipment. All models come with the Safety Sense suite of systems that includes a rearview camera, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and a lane departure warning system. You also get both front and rear parking sensors, a blind spot monitoring system, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control.
