Trim Levels
The 2019 Toyota Tundra is available in six trim levels: the base SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, the off-road-oriented TRD Pro, and the range-topping 1794 Edition. This truck is an imposing presence on the road with its hulking body and macho styling. It looks bold and aggressive with its massive grille, bulging hood, and muscular curves. Each Tundra trim has its own distinct styling features. The SR5 features a chrome grille surround, while the Limited and 1794 Edition look more elegant with chrome three-bar grilles and door handles. The TRD Pro distinguishes itself with a hood scoop and 18-inch five-spoke forged-aluminum wheels.
Engine
The base engine of the 2019 Toyota Tundra is a 4.6-liter V-8 engine that produces 310 horsepower. For more power, you can opt for the 5.7-liter V-8 engine that puts out 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque. Both engines pair with a six-speed automatic transmission and deliver power to the rear wheels or all four wheels if you choose that configuration. Standard on the TRD Pro, the 4WDemand four-wheel-drive system features an electronically controlled transfer case, automatic limited-slip differential, and active traction control for better performance in off-road situations.
Performance
Regardless of the size of its wheels, the 2019 Toyota Tundra delivers a smooth and composed ride on the pavement, even on uneven surfaces. Its sharp steering enables it to negotiate turns and tight quarters with relative ease. For better handling, you can add the TRD Sport package, which includes 20-inch alloy wheels, Luxury Sport tires, sport-tuned Bilstein shock absorbers, and TRD sway bars. The Tundra also performs well on off-road trails, especially when it is equipped with the TRD Off-Road package. This package features trail-tuned Bilstein shock absorbers, LED headlights and fog lights, engine and fuel tank skid plates, and front tow hooks.
Interior
The 2019 Tundra offers a comfortable and relaxing ride with its supportive seats and generous legroom and headroom. There are plenty of high-quality materials in the cabin, especially in the higher trims. Additionally, the truck offers an extensive list of tech features. It comes standard with a 6.1-inch Entune infotainment system, Bluetooth, Siri Eyes Free, voice recognition, and a USB port. Optional features include a power moonroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, an upgraded 7-inch Entune infotainment system, a 9- or 12-speaker audio system, smartphone integration, satellite radio, HD radio, and navigation.
Safety Features
The 2019 Toyota Tundra has more standard safety features than most of its competitors. Besides a rearview camera, it offers the Toyota Safety Sense suite of safety technologies, which consists of pre-collision alert, pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, lane-departure alert, and dynamic radar cruise control. Available features include blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic warning, and parking sensors.
