2023 Toyota RAV4 vs. 2023 Honda CR-V

2023 Toyota RAV4 vs. 2023 Honda CR-V

Overview

Honda and Toyota are perennial competitors on the roads, with each manufacturer producing similar vehicles that offer dependability and performance. When it comes to their small SUVs, which one is better? Let's look at the 2023 Toyota RAV4 vs. the 2023 Honda CR-V in a direct comparison.

What's New?

The 2023 Toyota RAV4, already one of the best SUVs on the roads, hits dealerships this year with a new, larger touchscreen and bigger digital instrument panel than in prior years. It continues its legacy of a large cabin, a comfortable ride, and great capabilities. The Honda CR-V gets a full redesign this year, so it's hard to say whether the new features are upgrades or not. .

Power

When it comes to raw power out of the gate, the Toyota RAV4 beats the Honda CR-V. The RAV4 is powered by a Dynamic Force inline four-cylinder engine that generates 203 horsepower and is mated to an eight-speed transmission with available Dynamic Torque Vectoring All-Wheel Drive. The Honda CR-V, on the other hand, gets only a 1.5-liter inline-four that makes 190 horsepower with a continuously variable transmission.

Off-Roading and Performance

When properly equipped, the new Toyota RAV4 is capable of 3,500 pounds of maximum towing capacity and boasts superior off-road performance with three selectable drive modes, terrain select functions, a multi-link rear suspension, and rear driveline disconnect. The latest Honda CR-V does not have an off-road-tuned trim level or features, and is not rated for towing at all.
In the end, the winner is clear: The Toyota RAV4 blows the Honda CR-V off the roads and off the trails.
