burger & fries in alcoa, tnSituated in Blount Country, the city of Alcoa, TN takes its name from the local aluminum smelting plant. With great schools and ample space, this vibrant city is rightly considered one of the best Knoxville suburbs. But whether you’re a resident or just passing through this part of Tennessee, Alcoa has plenty of sights on offer.

1. Springbrook Park

A local favorite, Springbrook Park has everything you need for a relaxing morning or afternoon. Bring a picnic and let the kids roam free in the play park or on in the basketball and tennis courts. Stay all day and use the park’s charcoal grill to host a barbecue. Although it’s close to the heart of town, Springbrook Park has that chilled vibe that keeps people coming back.

In 1998, local authorities constructed a three-mile path to connect Springbrook Park with nearby Maryville’s Bicentennial Greenbelt Park. This path is open to pedestrians and cyclists, making it perfect for people who want to explore both parks over one day.

2. Millennium Manor

Construction on this house began in 1937 by William Andrew Nicholson, who had recently moved to the city and had a full-time job at the smelting plant. William and his wife were deeply religious and believed that the end of the world was imminent, hence the name and solid construction of this beautiful manor house. Although the manor remains a private residence, there’s plenty to see on the outside of the property. However, if you’re in Alcoa on Memorial Day, don’t miss the open house tour.

The house is also very popular with fans of the supernatural who believe that it is haunted. If you’d like to find out for yourself, why not rent the house for a weekend? Rentals can be arranged with the owner.

3. 1950s Diner

If you’re looking for somewhere to eat, check out the Hot Rods Diner. This diner promises you an authentic taste of the 1950s, with great service and classic American dishes, like burgers, hot dogs, and extra-thick milkshakes. The diner also caters to vegetarians and those with specific allergies. Open all-year-round, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., excluding Christmas Day and Thanksgiving Day.

4. Pistol Creek PetSafe Dog Park

Did you know that Alcoa is home to a purpose-built dog park? Pistol Creek provides safe and high-quality areas to walk your dog, including a half-acre site for small dogs and one-acre area for larger breeds. You can also walk leashed dogs around the Pavilion and along the nearby Greenway. Don’t worry about bringing any water as the park has its own doggy fountain. It’s open every day, from dawn until dusk, but you’ll want to get there early, as parking is limited.

With so much to explore in this city, having a reliable vehicle should be high on your list of priorities. Visit Rick McGill’s Airport Toyota and book your test drive today!
