There’s something special about fall in Knoxville, TN. The weather cools off, the leaves change colors, and the streets teem with orange and white as proud members of the Vol Nation root for their team. Today, we’re looking at some of our favorite fall activities to enjoy when there isn’t a home game.

1. Checking Out the Market Square Farmers’ Market

If you want to enjoy a peaceful Saturday morning outdoors without straying too far from home, we recommend checking out the Market Square Farmers’ Market in Market Square. This market is open every Saturday between May 6 and November 18 from 9 AM to 1 PM. Vendors are set up on Market Square, Market Street, and Union Avenue, and there is a wide variety of goods you can buy, including:

  • Seasonal fruits
  • Seasonal veggies
  • Flowers
  • Baked goods
  • Coffee
  • Pasture-raised meats

2. Going on a Guided Tour of the Mabry-Hazen House

We also recommend going on a guided tour of the Mabry-Hazen House. Parking is available at 1690 Rosedale Ave, and you can visit any day but Sunday and Thanksgiving during the fall. However, you must make an appointment that starts no later than 2 PM if you want to tour the property on a Saturday.

3. Strolling Down the Ijams Nature Center Trails

Finally, we firmly believe that strolling down the Ijams Nature Center trails is a great way to enjoy the fall in Knoxville. Located at 2915 Island Home Ave., this nature center serves as a 275-acre sanctuary for local wildlife and features several miles of trails that you can hike at any time between dawn and dusk.

For some of the most spectacular views of the leaves changing colors in Knoxville, we recommend the Ijams River Trail loop. This 1.3-mile hike through the woods features a minuscule elevation gain and a great view of the lake in the quarry, too.

If you have a reliable car, you can access a vast multitude of fun fall events. If you don’t have a reliable car, we can help. Visit us today at Rick McGill’s Airport Toyota to take a 2023 Toyota Camry for a spin and find out if it is the right vehicle for you.
