road trips in Alcoa, TNLong road trips can be a grueling experience that end up being a true test of endurance. Of course, there’s tons of fun and learning opportunities that go along with a road trip, so it’s not something you should leave off the table the next time you’re planning a family adventure. The key is to keep everyone happy and entertained as the hours go by between destinations and key stops. There’s actually a lot you can do to help pass the time on long road trips. Here are a few ideas.

Record Your Adventure

Have a passenger record the events of the road trip to put together a video of it at the end. You can edit out all the embarrassing things, or better yet, leave them in for laughs. Your big family road trip will always be a memorable event, but making a video can make it even more special.

Even if you don’t have a video camera, there’s still plenty of fun ways to catalog your journey. You can use a journal to write down what’s going on or use a camera to put together a photo book.

Play a Game With Your Audio Streaming Device

There is an overwhelming amount of incredible audio streaming technology and connectivity features such as Apple CarPlay or Android Auto on recent vehicle models. Instead of having one person be in control of the radio the entire time, make a game out of your music selection.

Before your trip, have everyone come up with 5-10 situations and put them in a bag or hat. While you’re on the road, pull one of the situations out of the hat, then everyone has a couple minutes to think of a song that fits the situation perfectly and play it over the radio. Each round have one judge who picks the best song. It’s basically the game Apples to Apples, but with music. Everyone gets to hear music they like and share a few laughs.

Find Cool Destinations to Explore Upon Arrival

It’s likely that you have a few cool destinations planned into your road trip. Sometimes you end up with extra time or simply want to mix things up. While you’re on the road, do some more research on your destination to see if there are any highlights that you missed during your trip planning stages.

Download Some Audiobooks

One of the best times to crank out an audiobook is on a long road trip. If you can all agree on one you want to listen to, they can be a great way to take in an awesome story and keep everyone quiet and calm on a long journey. The same goes for podcasts. There are tons of entertaining podcasts out there that are worth a listen.

No matter what you do to keep your sanity on your next family road trip, just remember that the more tools you have in your toolbox of fun, the better time everyone will have. Keep a few of these road trip entertainment ideas in your back pocket before you set out on your next great adventure.
