Best Streaming Apps in Alcoa, TNThere are so many music streaming apps available today that it’s difficult to choose which one to go with. The following four options, available for both iOS and Android devices, include free versions that are worth downloading and trying out.

Pandora

Many vehicles are compatible with Pandora, a popular streaming service that allows you to search for music by genre, song or artist. Pandora then creates a custom radio station based on your personal preferences. You can create up to 100 stations and customize each one by rating songs with a thumbs-up or a thumbs-down symbol.

The free version includes advertisements. For commercial-free music, you can sign up for a $4.99 monthly subscription or pay $54.89 for the year.

Slacker Radio

This free service is a bit different from Pandora, as you’re choosing from hundreds of radio stations instead of searching by song or artist. However, you still get to personalize the stations based on your preferences. There’s also the option to skip up to six songs per hour from each station.

There are two upgrade options. Slacker Radio Plus costs $3.99 per month, removes all advertisements, and allows you to skip as many songs as you want. Go with the Premium version for $9.99 per month and you can jump to your favorite parts of the song. You’ll also gain access to Slacker Radio’s huge library of songs, leaving you free to create your own playlists.

TuneIn

If you prefer live radio, this free app might be more your style. It has over 100,000 live radio stations to choose from. You can search by genre or browse the list of top stations. Do you want something different for that long road trip? TuneIn also provides access to over 5.7 million podcasts from around the world.

Unlike most other streaming services, this app allows you to pay a one-time fee that removes advertisements. Listeners may also subscribe to the Premium service for $9.99 per month, which connects you with over 600 commercial-free radio stations and over 40,000 audiobooks.

Spotify

Here’s another music streaming service that allows you to search by song and not by the radio station. You can choose from various playlists or create one of your own. Spotify hooks up drivers with high-definition, commercial-free music, and it adds new songs every Monday. You can even access your playlist from home through your computer, tablet, or PlayStation.

This service is free on the computer, but to play it in the car you’ll need a monthly subscription. The Premium plan costs $9.99 per month. For $14.99, you can go with the Premium for Family plan, which lets you add up to five people to the plan. Each person gets an individual account that goes on the same bill. Students get a 50-percent discount on the Premium plan.

Whether you prefer live radio stations or personalized playlists, there’s a music streaming app for you. Try one of these apps and see if it makes your daily commute or weekend trip more pleasant.
