Stay Connected in a Toyota in Alcoa, TNWork shouldn’t be stressful. You should enjoy your job and feel great doing it. But in order to accomplish that, you may need to make some adjustments. For people who travel a lot for work, turning their car into an office is a great option – and Toyota has vehicles of all shapes and sizes to accommodate your vocation. Here’s our quick guide for transforming your Toyota into an office on-the-go.

Start Off With Room

If you know you’re going to need to work out of your car before purchasing a vehicle, you can find the perfect vehicle to suit your needs. Sedans like the Camry and Avalon have spacious trunks where you can store everything from file crates to reams of paper and client files. If you’re looking for taller storage in the rear, opt for a Highlander, 4Runner, or Sequoia, all of which can hold a 3-drawer file cabinet in the back, if necessary.

If you need more than just storage space, consider the Avalon for its roomy interior with the convenience and compact size of a sedan. If you prefer the multi-row interior space of an SUV, check out the Sequoia. With 120 cubic feet of storage room inside and an ample back seat row to spread out your work, the Sequoia is a great option for a mobile office.

Secure Your Gadgets

In order to get work done, you need to be able to find and use your gadgets at a moment’s notice. First, you’ll want to find a sturdy mount for your phone or tablet. If you don’t use your CD player often, you can find a terrific phone mount that hooks into your CD player slot and doesn’t block your air vent. However, if you use your CD player and don’t mind blocking an air vent by about 50 percent, opt for a universal air vent phone mount that you can use with any phone you end up with in the future.

Despite its name, a laptop is not always comfortable to use when resting on your lap. Instead, work in comfort with a steering wheel desk. A steering wheel desk attaches to the bottom of your steering wheel so your laptop is at a comfortable height for typing and reading. For use when parked only, of course.

Stay Connected

Internet is the key to working on-the-go. Invest in a mobile wireless router, which uses your cellular connection to establish a Wi-Fi signal right in your car – or wherever else you find yourself. You may even be able to use your cell phone itself to establish a Wi-Fi hotspot. Cellular carriers like Sprint allow you to take Wi-Fi on the go for a flat monthly fee. Another option is the Verizon Jetpack 4G Mobile Hotspot, which has a long battery life and sends out a powerful signal to keep you online.

You’ll also need to make sure your laptop and other gadgets stay charged while working from your Toyota. For under $20, you can get a three-prong charger adapter that plugs into your cigarette lighter in your vehicle. That way you can charge your laptop even when you’re nowhere near a wall.

Your Toyota already serves as your safety shield and cost-efficient transportation every day. Why not make it your perfect mobile office, too?
