4 great outdoor activities to enjoy near alcoa, tn

It’s important to get outside regularly. And in the modern world, where many of us spend far too much time indoors, it’s even more crucial. If you live in Alcoa, TN, you’re in luck! Whatever kind of person you are, there are plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities in the area.

1. Get Your Heart Pumping at Pistol Creek Mountain Bike Trail

Cycling is a lot of fun. Mountain biking takes the fun to a whole new level! There are plenty of brilliant places to enjoy some mountain biking around Alcoa, but one of the best is Pistol Creek. The half-mile loop trail offers plenty of steep drops, technical cornering, and pleasant scenery.

This volunteer-built and maintained trail is located close to downtown Alcoa. It has a large parking lot on site.

2. Take a Walk at Maryville Greenway

If you fancy taking a walk, look no further than Maryville Greenway. This long and well-maintained trail stretches for 9 miles, offering plenty of recreational opportunities to locals. Winding through pleasant suburbs, past woodlands, and by streams, it’s a well-lit, smooth path that rarely gets too busy.

The Greenway is also suitable for biking. Parking and access are available at Alcoa’s Springbrook Park and Maryville’s Bicentennial Greenway Park. Why not make a day of your visit to the Greenway by spending some time in one of the parks?

3. Enjoy a Picnic in Springbrook Park

Some say food tastes better when it’s eaten outdoors. Enjoying a picnic with friends or family is a great way to test that principle for yourself! One of the best places in the area for a picnic is Springbrook Park, with its wide-open green spaces, dedicated picnic areas, and beautiful scenery.

Sitting at one end of the Maryville Greenway Trail, it’s easily accessible, and if you’re looking for a whole day of outdoor fun, you could combine a short hike or bike ride with a picnic at the park! Springbrook Park also contains great amenities, including sports facilities like tennis and basketball courts, a lake for fishing and swimming, and plenty of parking and restrooms. Be sure to allow plenty of time to enjoy everything the park has to offer!

4. Go Fishing at Louisville Point Park

There’s nothing more relaxing than fishing and there are few places better to cast out your rod than Louisville Point Park. This park sits on a peninsula jutting into the Tennessee River, offering visitors plenty of opportunities to enjoy the water. Just a 15-minute drive from Alcoa, it’s well worth the short trip.

This is one of the best spots in the area for bank fishing, with anglers commonly hooking catfish and bass. The scenery is great and there’s a fine community of fishing enthusiasts who regularly visit the park.
