Dogwood Art Exhibits in Alcoa, TNDogwood Arts in Knoxville is an organization dedicated to promoting and celebrating the arts and culture of the region. Throughout the year they have many events and exhibits showcasing all kinds of talent and beauty. Here are some of the upcoming events at Dogwood Arts that are worth checking out.

Dogwood Arts Festival On Market Square

The Dogwood Arts Festival On Market Square has booth after booth of arts and crafts, culinary demonstrations, performing arts, and fun for the kids. From April 28 through the 30, several downtown streets transform into an artistic street fair. The event will feature over 60 juried artists who exhibit and sell their work. Stroll through the streets to see jewelry, glass, leather, painting, and photography from both local and regional artists. There are live performances on the Market Square Stage and on the Children’s State, as well as a flower market filled with beautiful flowers and plants. Head to downtown Knoxville to celebrate spring at the Arts Festival.

Dogwood Art Detour

Find out how artists create their works of art at the Dogwood Art Detour. This event features local artists who open their studios to the public and share their creative process. Watch as they demonstrate how they work and get an intimate look into their studio space. The Art Detour includes artists who create using a variety of mediums to explore the range of talent right in the Knoxville area. Join the artists on May 6 and 7 and get a behind the scenes look of the local art scene.

Dogwood Arts Featured Gardens

On April 22 and 23, some local Knoxville homes open their luxurious gardens to the public. Take a tour of some of the most remarkable outdoor gardens in the city and find out how the owners do it. Each garden has a unique design with many different features and plants. You can find out what homes to visit on the Dogwood Arts website, including that of Dr. Alan Solomon who has hundreds of different botanical species along with water features and sculptures. You can also visit the Baxter Gardens, where the initial garden started 25 years ago and now encompasses over 25 acres.

Regional Art Exhibition

The Regional Art Exhibition takes place from June 2 through the 30 and features both emerging and established regional artists. The art is on display at the Knoxville Convention Center and includes works of all styles and mediums. At the opening of the exhibit, prizes go to participants for exceptional work. An opening reception takes place at the Convention Center on June 2 and is open to the public. You can join the artists and see their pieces while learning more about them.
