19 CamrySome models in the automotive realm have such a longstanding track record of reliability and performance that they stand several proud notches above the rest. Launched for the first time in 1997, our esteemed Camry has now evolved into one of the hardest-hitting players in the midsize sedan category. During its early days, it was called the XV20, and was, for the most part, a bigger version of the Corona. Peeking back into time here at Rick McGill after our favorite Christmas and New Year’s season, the second version in the late 90s was the XV30. Power was derived from a 2.4-liter 2AZ-FE engine, with a 3.0-Liter V6 on deck as a heftier version if needed.

The year 2007 was when the XV40 was released, with the bigger V6 now at 3.5-liters rating, and the longer wheelbase resulting in more legroom and space inside the car. The XV50 made its way to the market during 2012, with a much sleeker appearance and more angular styling. The exterior was comprised of all-new sheet metal, and output was increased to 178 hp across the entire lineup. While SUVs were then beginning to glean more interest and attention from buyers worldwide, the Camry still held its ground and continued to be the best seller overall in its class.

Sport Driving Mode

The good folks on staff at the Zigwheels blog wrote about the awesome progression over time of the Camry this past week, as well as their admiration for the current model. The XV70 is now underpinned by the Toyota New Global Architecture, and equipped with Eco as well as Sport driving modes. All of us here at the dealership as well as the staff of Zigwheels can’t rave enough about the Sport mode: as soon as you engage it, the Camry feels raw, ready to rumble, and connected to the road in ways that previously never existed. It seems like every sedan has their own version of this action-packed amenity, but we promise you that the new Camry’s will make a long-lasting impression on even the most seasoned driver’s memorable afternoon list.

The interior features asymmetrical designing, as well as wooden elements that do a great job of making the inside look as sporty and aggressively-stanced as the exterior. Rear passengers get to enjoy features like cup holders, a dedicated hand-rest, and a ride comfortable enough to keep you in proper chill mode for longer than the daily commute. The available Bird’s Eye View Camera with Perimeter Scan uses Front, Side, and rear-mounted cameras to display an incredibly useful overhead view, helping you navigate in and out of spots with ease. There’s also no need to reach into your pocket or purse with Toyota’s available Smart Key System: you can lock and unlock the front doors and open the trunk by carrying the smart key. Once you’re safely inside, you just have to press the push button start, and you’re ready to hit the road!
