2020_Tacoma_TRD_Pro_08_E40AD3E805AFBDE9AD7F85E235D8264EF5074A64When truck lovers get on forums to talk about the strengths and weaknesses of their favorite trucks, we as the manufacturers make sure to listen to the traits they want in new models. In the case of the 2020 Tacoma, a long list of updates was drawn up after listening to what people thought after serious close-up looks and test drives. The staff on duty at MotorTrend cooked up a feature this week highlighting what’s new, and at the top of the list was the grille designs for all trims except the TRD Pro.

The entry-model SR gets the new grille, a tweaked taillight design, and an optional LED light for the bed, as well as intermittent wipers as standard. There’s also a 7.0-inch touchscreen, and support for Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Amazon Alexa. We can all agree that safety features as of late have been nothing short of amazing, pushing the limits with every yearly release, and giving drivers everywhere a very exciting glimpse of the technology that will soon pave the way to fully autonomous engagement. Adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning are standard now across the board, as well as several others.

During a late February’s visit here at Rick McGill, don’t forget to ask us how the step up to the popular SR5 sports a new grille design, 16-inch wheels, a darker taillight housing, different fabric upholstery, and an 8.0-inch touchscreen that’s is shared with higher trims. LED bed lights and daytime running lights are also an option. The TRD sport boasts the addition of the new grille, new 17-inch wheels, chrome taillight inserts, and a long list of other lighting options. You get the very cool LED fog lights now as standard, while LED DRLs, headlights, and a bed light remain optional. You can also step up to the surround-view camera system, and one-touch keyless entry has been added to the passenger door.

TRD Off-Road models get most of the same upgrades and options found on the 2020 TRD Sport, but to improve its overall off-road capability, there is also an optional Multi-Terrain Monitor, which shows an underneath view. A locking rear differential, Bilstein shocks, hill start assist, crawl control, and multiple off-road modes also come standard. The top-trim Limited is where you really acquire the goods in all ways: brand new 18-inch wheels, LED headlights and DRLs and chrome taillight inserts are included, and the surround-view camera system is standard. The folks at Trucks.com had the updated tuning courtesy of the Toyota Racing Development on the shocks at the top of their list for favorite features, stating that it’s a perfect and exciting addition for the already very athletic and able truck!
