3 Fun Summer Activities You Can Drive to From Knoxville, TN

Seven Islands State Birding Park

One of our favorite area parks, Seven Islands State Birding Park is located on the north shore of Norris Lake, and it offers something unique: a chance to explore nature while driving in your own vehicle. The park is open all year long, so you can enjoy it anytime during the summer months. You’ll find several trails that meander through the woods, offering scenic views and opportunities to see wildlife like deer, turtles, and frogs.

You can also stop at any of the many observation points along the way to enjoy nature up close. The park also features a number of bird blinds where you can observe various species without disturbing them too much, including wood ducks and bluebirds! Fishing is permitted in designated areas as well. Stop by this birdwatching destination on your next trip to the area!

Southlake RV Park

Southlake RV Park is a great place to stay if you’re looking for a fun camping experience with your family and friends. Located on the banks of the Little Pigeon River and surrounded by beautiful mountains, this campground has everything you need for a relaxing getaway.

You’ll enjoy fishing, hiking, and swimming in the river, as well as taking part in many other activities such as horseback riding and whitewater rafting. If you want to take your trip one step further, consider booking one of their luxury cabins or lodges instead of setting up camp.

Fort Loudon State Park

Fort Loudon State Park is located in Winchester, Tennessee. It’s only about 30 minutes away from Alcoa, which makes it a perfect summer activity for families that live in the area.

The park has over 1,200 acres of land, and there are several different trails that you can hike on while you’re there. The trails range from easy hikes that are less than 2 miles long all the way up to difficult ones that are over 5 miles long. There are also picnic areas and campgrounds at Fort Loudon State Park if you want to spend more than just one day there with your family.

These are just three of the fun activities you can find in Alcoa.
