Fruit in Nashville TNIt’s important to start the day off right with dishes that are both healthy and amazing. We’ve picked out four breakfast restaurants in Knoxville that you’re sure to enjoy.

Pete’s Restaurant

Pete’s Restaurant has won numerous awards, including several Best of Knoxville honors. The family-owned-and-operated restaurant serves breakfast until 11 a.m. on weekdays and all day Saturday. Pete’s serves traditional favorites with special touches on the menu, such as pecan pancakes, cinnamon French toast, and a Greek omelet. Reviewers say lines are long, but the excellent food is worth the wait.

Pete’s is located at 540 Union Ave. and is open Monday-Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The French Market Creperie

Put a French twist on breakfast at The French Market Creperie, the only authentic French crepe restaurant in the city. The restaurant specializes in both sweet and savory French crepes. Breakfast crepes have fillings such as scrambled eggs and Swiss cheese or scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. You can also get classic omelets and croissants with combinations of cheese, egg, and meat.

The French Market Creperie has two locations: downtown at 412 Clinch Ave. and in West Knoxville at 161 Brooklawn St. The downtown restaurant opens at 8 a.m. every morning except on Sunday when it opens at 9 a.m., while the West Knoxville location opens at 9 a.m. on Mondays and Sundays and 8 a.m. every other day of the week.

Nick & J’s Cafe/Diner

Nick & J’s Cafe/Diner is owned by Najwan Natour, who named the place after his children, Nicholas and Jordan. It’s one of the more popular restaurants in Knoxville, likely in large part because Natour and his family have a long and successful history with restaurants.

Breakfast is served from 7-10:30 a.m., featuring lots of traditional comfort foods such as biscuits and gravy, pancakes, and eggs with bacon or sausage. Pancakes start out simple, but you can add on blueberries, chocolate chips, and strawberries. Don’t forget to try the cinnamon and maple French toast with powdered sugar that also comes with strawberries. Omelets, breakfast sandwiches, and rustic specials are on the menu as well.

Nick & J’s is open Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The restaurant is at 1526 Lovell Road.

First Watch

First Watch starts your morning with a pot of coffee and a menu featuring fresh ingredients. The trendy avocado toast continues to be popular, but First Watch also serves traditional eggs, bacon, toast, and pancakes. For something different, try the BLT Benedict, which merges the best of the BLT and eggs Benedict and adds avocado. The Frittata Rustica gives you an inviting Italian-style omelet with complex flavors.

Two First Watch locations are in Knoxville: one in Fountain City at 5144 N. Broadway St. and the other in Bearden Hill at 6574 Kingston Pike. Both are open daily from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
