top reasons to love living in alcoa, tnAlcoa, TN may have begun as a town built for aluminum production, but, over the years, this region has evolved into so much more.

1. Sweet Suburban Living

Alcoa offers the perfect solution if you want to work and play in an urban area while making your home in a more relaxed and slower-paced suburban region. Founder ALCOA created the town with just this sensibility in mind, investing heavily in education, infrastructure, and park construction.

If you’re looking for some big city action, just about 12 miles separate Alcoa from mega-metro Knoxville. In about 20 minutes, you can visit a sprawling market common, fascinating museums, and even catch a college football game at Knoxville’s Neyland Stadium. This town and city also share one of the region’s largest international airports.

2. Natural Splendor

Speaking of those storied parks, Alcoa offers an abundance of well-maintained park havens where you can enjoy a picnic, a walk, botanical sightseeing, or just some fresh air and sunshine.  For every 100 people, one acre of parkland awaits. The Maryville-Alcoa Greenway joins the beloved Springbrook Park with the nearby Maryville Bicentennial Greenbelt Park.

Better yet, Alcoa offers some of the most majestic postcard views of the beautiful Great Smoky Mountains available. The town even hosts its own Little River complete with interesting aquatic wildlife.

3. Football Frenzy

If nothing beats the feeling of a Friday night under the lights of a football field, Alcoa is the destination for you. The local team boasts five consecutive championships in its trophy case, from 2015 to 2019.

Several hometown boys have even gone on to professional fame. Current and former NFL players—and Alcoa alumni—include Randall Cobb, Shannon Mitchell, Dave Davis, Billy Williams, and Lynn Swann.

4. Building Block of History

Perhaps Alcoa’s best-known piece of real estate, Millennium Manor has stood proud since 1946. This labor of love began construction nine years prior under the watchful eye of its first owner William Andrew Nicholson, a mason and carpenter who worked at the town’s former Alcoa plant.

Now undergoing renovation after stints as a meeting house and even a haunted house, the building remains as an impressive ode to Roman architecture. Tennessee pink marble finishes off artistic touches like arches and keystones aplenty.

5. Fireworks and Fun

What started as a high school’s desire to showcase Independence Day has evolved into a semi-annual spectacle of spectacular fireworks. FreedomFest has been going strong for over five decades, with more recent showings offering up over 9,000 fireworks set to the best patriotic music.

This popular event draws enthusiastic crowds from miles away who gather to celebrate with good food, good company, and all-around good times.
