toyota tacoma in alcoa, tnThe 2020 Toyota Tacoma was built for adventure. Long a favorite of offroaders for its ruggedness and practicality, it has everything you need and nothing you don’t. This year’s model features some tech updates, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and some cosmetic updates.

Value

Starting at just $27,225 MSRP, your dollar goes a long way with the Tacoma. It also gets 23 MPG on the highway and features a solid warranty with the best regularly scheduled free maintenance package in its class. The powertrain is covered for 5 years, or 60,000 miles, the limited warranty covers 3 years for 36,000 miles, and you get 2 years complimentary maintenance good for 25,000 miles.

Off-Road Ready

The number one reason to get a Tacoma has always been off-road adventures; this is also the reason it’s been the best selling mid-size picket by a wide margin for many years. The basic engine is a four-cylinder, 159 horsepower engine, but you’ll want to get the V6 if you plan to do any serious adventuring. It’s a big upgrade to the 3.6L 278 horsepower V6 engine with 265-foot pounds of torque. You’ll also strongly want to consider getting the 4 wheel drive option, as it allows the Tacoma to tow up to 6,300 pounds.

The Tacoma offers both a manual transmission and a six-speed automatic. You will also want to consider getting the TRD Off-Road or the TRD Pro, as these will maximize its off-road potential. The TRD Pro features a more advanced suspension system, more absorbent brakes, and tires designed for all terrains. Of course, if you like a quieter, smoother ride, the Limited Trim model gives it a more luxurious feel.

Practical Interior

The power-adjustable driver’s seat will help you relax during your drive, and the interior has seating for either four or five people. The Tacoma comes with either a five-foot or six-foot bed, so if you plan to haul a lot you may want to upgrade to the more spacious one.

Technology

The most basic trim level of the Tacoma features a 7-inch touchscreen, all other models come with an 8-inch touchscreen. Apple Carplay and Android Auto are included, so you can access many of your phone’s features through the touchscreen. The 8-inch touchscreen also comes with 3 months of access to Sirius XM radio, Safety Connect service, and 3 months of wifi. Multiple USB ports are included, as well as wireless charging – eliminating the need for cumbersome phone cables.

Some of the nice available features are an HD radio for clear crisp sound, and a navigation system so you don’t have to rely on your phone’s tiny, cumbersome screen. The JBL sound system is also nice to get the most out of your radio, while the available voice recognition system means you can access many of these tech features without taking your hands off the wheel.
