If photography is your passion, Knoxville, TN, is the perfect place. Tucked away in the foothills of the Smokies and spanning the Tennessee River, the city offers a plethora of excellent photo spots. Hop in a Toyota RAV4, Camry, or Corolla and hit the road to explore these fantastic destinations below.

1. World’s Fair Park

Snap photos of the sun reflecting off the iconic Knoxville Sunsphere from Festival Lawn in World’s Fair Park at 1060 Worlds Fair Park Drive in Knoxville. Once the site of the 1982 World’s Fair, the park boasts the picturesque Tennessee Amphitheater, babbling streams, cascading waterfalls, and beautiful gardens.

Stand on the Sunsphere Observation Deck for a panoramic 360-degree view and take awe-inspiring shots of the city, the Tennessee River, and the Smoky Mountains.

2. Market Square

Downtown Knoxville’s historic Market Square from Wall Avenue to Union Avenue has been the most popular destination in the city for shopping, dining, and entertainment for more than a century. The vibrant square is home to outdoor concerts, movies, Shakespeare on the Square, First Night Knoxville, and the Dogwood Arts Festival.

Capture the Knoxville skyline from the parking garage roof at 402 Walnut Street, walk down Strong Alley, an artistic gem just off Market Square, for unique pics of the colorful graffiti and murals, and snap great pictures of the activities at the Market Square Farmers’ Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

3. Volunteer Landing Park

The small 12.5-acre linear Volunteer Landing Park at 300 Neyland Drive in Knoxville on the shores of the Tennessee River is a photographer’s dream destination. Take stunning photos from the dock of the boats, anglers on the pier, the Lady Vols rowing team practicing, and the reflections on the water with the historic Henley Street Bridge framing the background.

Henley Street Bridge, with its graceful arches, is also a great photo op. Take shots of the bridge’s arches reflecting on the water and walk across the bridge for photos of the river and downtown Knoxville.

4. The Sunflower Fields

Capture the spectacular display of color every odd-numbered year in July down the multi-use 6.5-mile Will Skelton Greenway in the Forks of the River Wildlife Management Area at 3140 McClure Lane in Knoxville when acres and acres of sunflower fields are in full bloom.

The trail meanders through the fields and woodlands, and it’s also here where the Holston and French Broad Rivers meet to form the Tennessee River, offering many amazing photo opportunities along the way.

Everywhere you look in Knoxville, there’s something to snap or a picture-perfect background to take amazing photos of family and friends. While you’re out and about snapping away, pop in at Rick McGill’s Airport Toyota, check out the lineup of new models, and take one for a test drive.
