Buying a new car is a great feeling. You pull out of the lot, bring it home, park it in your driveway or garage, and just take a look at how nice it is. Being so important to you, you want to protect your new car as much as you can. Luckily, when you buy a vehicle from a Toyota dealer, you receive a car warranty that protects against a wide range of potential issues! Here are some of them.
3 Years of Coverage
Probably the most important thing to know about your Toyota’s warranty is that it doesn’t last forever. You’ll have three years from the moment of purchase where you can apply your warranty to any work done, after that you’ll have to pay for it. You should also keep in mind that there is a 36,000-mile limit on your warranty, so if you’re someone who drives a lot then your warranty coverage may end sooner.
Defective Parts
Each Toyota that comes out of the factory undergoes a scrutinous quality inspection procedure, but nonetheless, some defective parts may still get through. Additionally, parts might break before they are expected to have any problems. In either case, you’ll have access to Toyota’s bumper-to-bumper coverage, which covers essentially all mechanical and electrical parts built and installed by Toyota. If you have installed any third-party parts since buying your vehicle, those won’t be covered.
Toyota Accessories
While your third-party parts are not covered, if you’ve installed any Toyota accessories, those do enjoy the benefits of the warranty. These could be skid plates, lift kits, performance exhaust systems, shift knobs, floor mats, door sill protectors, and much more. So when you’re looking for accessories, make sure they’re made by Toyota!
Extended Powertrain Coverage
The powertrain is what actually propels your car down the road. It’s your engine, your transmission, and the front and rear-wheel drive systems. Under your Toyota warranty, coverage for the powertrain doesn’t end at the same time as the normal warranty. Your drivetrain will be protected for 60 months or 60,000 miles, depending on which comes first. So, make sure to have these components inspected regularly by Toyota technicians!

Your warranty doesn’t only cover repairing or replacing defective parts in your new Toyota. While your warranty is valid, you can enjoy the benefits of ToyotaCare, which covers regular maintenance for 2 years or 25,000 miles. ToyotaCare also provides you with 24/7 roadside assistance and towing. The best part is that these last two benefits have no mileage limits!
